Created over the course of a few days, Another Day came from the experience of witnessing my grandfather’s rapid decline after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Over five stages, roughly representing the progressing phases of the illness, I have tried to capture some of the growing sense of powerlessness and disorientation associated with this insidious disease. My grandfather was luckier than most, as he was able to share most of his life with my grandmother and to have raised a loving family. Up until his final days he still enjoyed the small things in life, like a ‘gebakje’ with his coffee and the visits of his daughters and grandchildren, despite so many other things having faded away. Both my grandparents are rolemodels and sources of inspiration to me, and I am very fortunate to have had them both in my life for so many years.
